Fantastic Paint Color Change in Indianapolis

There’s been a fantastic color transformation in Indianapolis recently. These Walla Painting customers in Indianapolis felt their home’s interior was very dark and needed updating. They wanted a brighter home that was more sustainable for their lifestyle. They decided painting the interior of their home a lighter color was a quick way to brighten it. These customers hadn’t hired painters before and chose Walla Painting because of a recommendation from an interior designer.

BEFORE

Special Requests

Per our customers’ request, our team consistently wore face masks and shoe covers during the project. Our team moved the master bedroom furniture and the laundry room appliances for our customers. We covered the kitchen countertops for protection before beginning to work.

Surface Preparation

To ensure a smooth surface for the new paint, the Walla Painting team scuff-sanded and cleaned the front entry door and scuff-sanded the top of the front living room bench. We removed stripe lines from the walls of the two guest bedrooms using a HEPA sander with 220 grit. Major repairs were made above the mantel in the back living room, which required our crew to use a HEPA sander to remove previously done repairs. All shelves and surfaces of the built-ins in the back living room were scuff-sanded and primed. A large crack on the wall was cut and patched in the upstairs loft area, and all wood in the upper loft and stair area was scuff-sanded, cleaned, and primed. We removed the glass from the light fixture in the full bath and used a HEPA sander to smooth out imperfections behind it. In the master bath, our team sanded the imperfections around the toilet using a HEPA filter and made the necessary repairs.

Products Used For This Project

Walla Painting used an extreme bonding primer tinted white for this project to convert all wood. The trim was coated twice with Emerald Semi-gloss Pure White Sherman Williams 7005. The walls were painted with White Dove OC-17 Benjamin Moore Duration matte and received two coats of paint, except for the darker ones, which required three coats for full coverage. We painted the entire window frames, including the top and bottom sashes, but not the vinyl sliding portions or openings. We made sure not to paint the windows shut. The entire ceiling of the full bath was painted, and we touched up the ceiling in all painted rooms throughout the home. We made sure our customers knew the touch ups might stand out from the rest of the ceiling area. We filled all the nail holes and caulked gaps in the room’s trim and walls/ceilings to ensure a smooth finish.

Expert Trim Conversions

The experts at Walla Painting completed trim conversions on the window and baseboard in the upper loft and stair area. Additionally, we did a wood conversion on all bare wood in the master bedroom and trim conversions on all bare wood in the master bathroom (excluding cabinets). In the master closet, a trim conversion was completed on all bare wood. We left the shelves in the master closet unpainted, as requested by the customer.
