Revitalized Wood Banisters and Cabinets in Zionsville

This Zionsville client reached out to Walla Painting for some assistance in updating their stair trim and railing to the current trends. Wood has been becoming steadily less popular, and we have seen a surge in clients converting their banisters to a painted finish instead. Walla Painting was happy to assist our client with this extremely detailed process.

Before commencing the project, we made sure to take extra precautions by covering and taping all carpeted areas where they meet with wooden surfaces. Moreover, we ensured that the flooring in the entry hall was adequately protected during the duration of our work.

BEFORE

This project had the Walla crew scuff sand away all of the previous clear coat on the entire handrail, spindles, skirting, lower trim molding, and caulking all gaps. We carefully cleaned excess dust before priming. In order to achieve optimal adherence to the wood, we utilized Sherwin Williams Extreme Bond Primer, which was tinted to a darker shade to match the final color. We then applied two coats of SW Emerald Trim Semi-gloss in Urbane Bronze 7048. Following the priming process, any significant gaps were caulked.

For the cabinets in the lower half bath and the upstairs full bath, we used Sherwin-Williams Alabaster 7008 semi-gloss. We were given permission by our client to utilize some open space in their garage to create a painting station for the doors and drawers. We scuff sanded all of the cabinet surfaces and thoroughly sanded all cabinet doors and drawers. The Walla professionals applied one coat of wood bonding primer that was tinted white and two coats of Emerald Urethane. We recommended that our client exercise additional caution as the freshly painted woodwork requires a full 30 days to cure and harden fully.

Our client in Zionsville was very pleased with the final result, and we look forward to working with them again in the future on any painting needs!
